Your “COMMENTS” are proving to be a popular feature of the CowPattie. Fortunately, we have not had to edit or delete a single one. All of you are to be commended for adhering to the rules.
It seems that we have an ongoing war between “beth’ and “Jeff”. Hope they continue their “war of words”.
We would encourage all of our readers to take advantage of this freedom to express their views, regardless of whether you are a Freedom-Loving CowPattie Patriot or a Tax and Waste Town Hall Bureaucrat.
The government plans to begin collecting DNA samples from anyone arrested by a federal law enforcement agency — a move intended to prevent violent crime but which also is raising concerns about the privacy of innocent people.
This is un-constitutional!
The Fifth Amendment (Amendment V) to the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, protects against abuse of government authority in a legal procedure. Its guarantees stem from English common law which traces back to the Magna Carta in 1215. For instance, grand juries and the phrase “due process” both trace their origin to the Magna Carta.
The Constitution plainly states, “…. nor shall (any person) be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself,…”.
Even DWI suspects have the Right to decline a breathalyzer test. If I were asked to take a breathalyzer test, I would refuse. I would also refuse a field sobriety test. Let the chips fall where they may. I need not prove my innocence. The burden of proof is on the State… let them do their job. Mine is adhering to the Constitution. (FYI, I do not drink)
Now, don’t get me wrong. I am as opposed to drunken drivers and other criminal activities as anyone… but not at the expense of our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. The congressional communists hope to pass this insidious bill in the name of our security. Just remember what Ben Franklin said….. “Those who would trade freedom for security, deserve neither.”
