UPDATE….UPDATE….UPDATE

U.S. agrees to timetable for UN Gun Ban

The United Nations and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are moving forward with their plan to confiscate your guns.

The United States joined 152 other countries in support of the Arms Trade Treaty Resolution, which establishes the dates for the 2012 UN conference intended to attack American sovereignty by stripping Americans of the right to keep and bear arms.

Working groups of anti-gun countries will begin scripting language for the conference this year, creating a blueprint for other countries when they meet at the full conference.

This UN treaty has goals similar to the Carolina Thread Trail project.  The same people are behind it.  Your rights are at stake!

The Carolina Thread Trail

project is Sustainable

Development in disguise.

.

Just say, “NO”.

.

What is Sustainable Development?

The term “Sustainable Development” describes a variety ofpublic policy objectives that seek to better organize communities to…

(1)  protect the environment;

(2)  stimulate economicdevelopment; and

(3)  promote social equity.

These three values are thought to be inseparable, and should be considered together as the basis for evaluating all future development.

Various United Nations agencies, working in consultation with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, compiled a blueprint for achieving sustainable development called Agenda 21. This non-binding policy document was signed by 179 nations, including the United States, at the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

The tea party’s next challenge

by Henry Lamb

Americans can do whatever they decide to do. Witness the politiscape littered with the careers of Democrats deposed by determined Americans who have had enough big-government socialism forced upon them. The next challenge for the tea party – and other organizations – is local and state governments that are systematically implementing freedom-robbing policies in the name of comprehensive planning, smart growth, sustainable development and environmental protection.

If the word “freedom” is to have any meaning at all, it must mean that people are free to live wherever they choose, and free to use their property as they choose. For nearly 150 years, no one questioned this fundamental freedom. Then, in 1916, the Equitable Life Insurance Company built a 38-story building at 120 Broadway in lower Manhattan. The controversy about the building’s effect on the neighborhood resulted in the first zoning laws. In 1924, the Department of Commerce issued the Standard State Zoning Enabling Act, which many states adopted. Zoning simply allowed elected officials to establish areas within a city that were reserved for industrial, residential, municipal, or recreational use. People were still free to build what they wanted within these zones.

By the 1970s, however, zoning fell out of favor, and the new fad became planning. The American Planning Association emerged in 1978 to advance the “science” of planning. Planning gave the government the power to control the use of land. Control of the use of any asset is the first evidence of ownership – but this new “science” of planning allowed government to disavow ownership of the land, continue to force the owner to pay taxes on the land, and still dictate to the owner how the land might be used, or to prohibit all uses whatever.

The first purpose of government is to secure the unalienable rights of the people who created the government. Among these rights are the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. So says the Declaration of Independence and most state constitutions. The U.S. Constitution requires that just compensation be paid to any person whose property is taken for public use.

The new science of planning allows government to take from the owner the privilege of ownership – without compensation – while forcing the owner to bear all the responsibilities of ownership. State and local governments have lost their way, just as the federal government lost its way. The tea party – and other organizations – started last week on a path to put the federal government back on track to protect the unalienable rights of the people who created it. Now it is time for these same determined Americans to focus on state and local governments, and put them back on the right track to protect the rights of their citizens as well.

The first policy statement in a Missouri county’s comprehensive plan says: “The County shall work to prevent urban sprawl. …” Considering the first purpose of government, would it not be more appropriate for the first policy statement to be something like: “The County shall work to protect the private property rights of its citizens. …” The words “property rights” do not appear anywhere in the entire plan. Local and state governments, as well as the federal government, have forgotten the first purpose for which they were created. They must be reminded at each and every election, and on a regular basis between elections.

Every community has a comprehensive land-use plan, or has such a plan under development. These plans inevitably destroy private property rights and property values. Local citizens must hold their elected officials accountable by attending public meetings and asking why it is more important for the county to prevent urban sprawl than to protect the private property rights of its citizens.

Throughout Florida, tea-party organizations are beginning to accept the challenge of preventing local government from crushing their property rights under a comprehensive land-use plan. In Amarillo, Texas, a group of everyday citizens has formed to learn how to convince their elected officials to reject the plan that stifles property rights – and economic development. In city after city, and county after county, local citizens are discovering that they can change the direction of their government.

Tea parties will have a few months before the battles for the 2012 elections heat up. There’s no better training ground or more productive enterprise than to persuade local and state governments to abandon the socialist idea of controlling land use, and return to the practice of protecting the rights of the people who created the government – especially the rights inherent in private property ownership. If freedom is to be restored to the American people, it must be restored at home, as well as in Washington.

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR?

.

Wesley Shaun Bumgarner

According to our source at the Hickory Police Department, Fun Cop G. Blackwood was writing a Newton man a ticket for a “noise violation” when Wesley Bumgarner sneaked up behind the guy and shanked him.  If you are not familiar with the term, shanking means jerking someone’s pants down around their knees.  Wesley got his FOTL’s in the same fell swoop, exposing the guys “privates” to at least two women.

For this act, above and beyond the call of duty, we nominate Wes for CITIZEN OF THE YEAR.

Fun Cop Blackwood arrested Wes and the magistrate placed him under $500 bond.  BOO!!

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CITIZENS OF CLAREMONT

cc/ Mayor Morrow and the Claremont Town Council

Citizens of Claremont,

As you may have been reading in my latest posts, I’ve been seriously researching the subject of “Sustainable Development” as it reveals a government imposed creed, steeped in false ideology not approved by voters, and in doing so I’ve come upon the method of “governance” of the left. (Worse from the left, but in fairness, this method is also being employed by the right to some degrees.) By doing this research over the past few months and years, I have come to the conclusion that our government has been completely hijacked. To that you might be saying, “Duh.” You noticed that, too?

The point though is, that while we have seen the consequences emerging into our lives, no one seems to realize how this happened and from whence it is coming. I’m not about to blame Saul Alinsky, or Cloward and Piven, though they deftly outlined the methods. I’m about to blame those elected officials who are so stupid as to comply with unelected organizations…for the sake of what? Money, power, awards, junkets, etc. Elected officials are doing things antithetical to their oaths of office and to their responsibilities to the voters. Why and how? (And yes, I blame the voters, too, for allowing this and electing all the wrong people to office.)

I just had the weird experience of viewing the movie, “Idiocracy.” Just getting around to it. And as crass as it is, I have to say it hit a home run in describing the devolution of our blessed republic, albeit in a cartoonish sort of way. No, I didn’t like the movie. But I got it. And it was smack on point, sad to say.

Representative government is supposed to represent the voters. While a republic is not a democracy, and should not be, the expectation is that the interest of the voters would be represented by their elected officials operating within the parameters of the Constitution. As the dumbing down of America has succeeded beyond Marx’s wildest dreams over the last decades, we now have a government made up of dolts and idiots who have no concept of the consequences of their actions beyond their own selftish motives, and who don’t care about parameters or our Constitutional guarantees. Is it any wonder that the public has lost confidence in government?

So where do I see evidence of this corrupt and unintelligent government? Oh, don’t even ask that one. All over the place, is the answer.

Here is one “for instance:” American Thinker on Soros Behind the Libya AttacksThere is one influential group that has been in the forefront of efforts to promote the idea that the international community is obligated to take measures (including military ones) to protect civilians. That group is the Global Center for the Responsibility to Protect. Lo and behold! George Soros’s Open Society Institute is one of the two foundations that bankroll this advocacy group (the other, the John D. and Catherine MacArthur Foundation – a group that has, over the years, become known not just for its Genius Awards but also for its funding of left-leaning groups. It is headed by a former State Department official and we know how many of those diplomats think).”

What do you take from that? You can’t ignore that our President has attacked Libya on a premise the George Soros foundation created, a foundation of unelected international socialist zealots. Obama’s decision had nothing to do with America, but rather is using America for a goal outside of Americans’ better interests. Just like Clinton implemented Sustainable Development on the basis of international environmental zealots out of the UN, Obama implements foreign policy and military actions on the basis of Soros, the UN, and global socialists. We are electing persons who then commence to govern with policies from unelected boards and commissions that we, as voters, don’t want.

Starting at the top, we have a President who cares not one whit for our own Constitution, but would put our military on the line for his buddy Soros, the UN, and the international community? Every action this President has taken has been without respect to our own laws and Constitution. No surprise to me because I paid attention to who he was before his election. But evidently, our idiocracy did not. So now we are stuck with consequences destroying our country.

Maybe it all has started at the top. Top down idiocracy. I know the Sustainable Development insanity came from the top down, through Bill Clinton. He just went around our legislative process and implemented his damage anyway. This is now a method on steroids with Obama. Just as Bill Clinton put Jimmy Carter’s CRA on steroids, Obama is putting Clinton’s policies on steroids, only worse.

Our country is supposed to be “bottom up.” Our citizens are supposed to be smart enough to rule themselves. Yet, mayors, governors, legislators, and presidents, for the past twenty years, have all ignored the common sense of the people in order to govern outside of our laws. We have, for all intents and purposes, a government that functions outside the law and without any concern for our American interests. We have a quasi government, doing business without our consent.

If you could see the list of associated non-profits and NGO’s operating through just the United States Conference of Mayors, you would see that your mayor is not answerable to you, but is answering to the unelected boards and commissions attached thereto. (at that link, go to legislation and programs. The drop down menu gives you “standing committees.” Under those headings you will see who your mayor is using for regulations and ruling your city. Hint: you aren’t counted.)

What have I learned along the way? I’ve learned that from the mayor of your city, all the way up to the President of the United States, our government is no longer an elected republican form of government. It is a false front for unelected players now ruling America.

See:
American Spectator report on Angelo Codevilla’s Ruling Class
Excerpt:

The Agenda: Power

“Our ruling class’s agenda is power for itself. While it stakes its claim through intellectual-moral pretense, it holds power by one of the oldest and most prosaic of means: patronage and promises thereof. Like left-wing parties always and everywhere, it is a “machine,” that is, based on providing tangible rewards to its members. Such parties often provide rank-and-file activists with modest livelihoods and enhance mightily the upper levels’ wealth. Because this is so, whatever else such parties might accomplish, they must feed the machine by transferring money or jobs or privileges — civic as well as economic — to the party’s clients, directly or indirectly. This, incidentally, is close to Aristotle’s view of democracy. Hence our ruling class’s standard approach to any and all matters, its solution to any and all problems, is to increase the power of the government — meaning of those who run it, meaning themselves, to profit those who pay with political support for privileged jobs, contracts, etc. Hence more power for the ruling class has been our ruling class’s solution not just for economic downturns and social ills but also for hurricanes and tornadoes, global cooling and global warming. A priori, one might wonder whether enriching and empowering individuals of a certain kind can make Americans kinder and gentler, much less control the weather. But there can be no doubt that such power and money makes Americans ever more dependent on those who wield it.”

Ten questions with Angelo Codevilla on the Ruling Class

This post may be just a reminder to some, or a regurgitation of same same to others. Maybe it’s just a lament from my broken heart over America. But at the least, I hope it shows you that this is not just about the federal government, but it is about us, individually and locally. And what are we going to do about the problem?

Just a few suggestions: Stop taking grants and subsidies. Stop allowing your local government to align itself with unelected organizations. Stop your city council and county commissioners from implementing policies without your permission or referendum. Ask questions about where the policies are originating. Find out who is behind the latest regulation, the latest tax, the latest fees, the latest edicts. That is just a start.

To say that our rights and the rights of future generations are at stake is putting it mildly.

A British mother is giving her

eight-year-old daughter regular

Botox injections and waxes to

improve her chances of

becoming famous in later life.

Beautician Kerry Campbell, 34, buys Botox and fillers online and injects them into her daughter Britney’s forehead, lips and eye area to give her daughter “the best start in life”.

Ms Campbell has ignored the advice of doctors and believes the treatments will guarantee Britney becomes famous as a teenager, The Sun reports.

“I know one day she will be a model, actress or singer, and having these treatments now will ensure she stays looking younger and baby-faced for longer,” she was quoted as saying.

“I’m sure people reading this will think I am being irresponsible… All I want is for Britney to have the best start in life, so it is easier for her to become a superstar.”

Britney — whose research scientist father died four years ago aged 83 — thinks of the treatments as part of everyday life.

She says she demands the Botox injections when she can see wrinkles.

“My friends think it’s cool I have all the treatments and they want to be like me,” she said.

“I check every night for wrinkles, when I see some I want more injections.”

Ms Campbell, who now lives in San Francisco to be closer to the competitive world of American beauty pageants, says a lot of parents on the pageant circuit give their daughters “extra help”.

“I’d rather she be perfect and have a little frozen face,” she said.

“All this pain and effort now will benefit Britney no end.”

In the UK and US there are no criminal laws stopping a child having these procedures as the industry relies on self-regulation. [msn.com.au]

U.N. AGENDA 21

This is serious business, folks.  The following was excerpted from a letter written by one who is fighting United Nations Agenda 21/Carolina Thread Trail in a neighboring community:

The Thread Trail is an anti-private property rights environmentalist organization and is working with the Centralina Council on Governments (look up CCOG) and others to over-ride our citizens rights.  I hope you can stop them where you are…

Our local councils…both county and city adopted the Thread Trail, not by referendum of course, and now we find our mayor using eminent domain to do the Trail….

After I had my article published in the newspaper calling out the mayor…I suddenly received a tax revaluation on my house.  (mind you there was no county wide tax reval going on….just me.)  Suffice it to say…there will be retribution if they can do it.  I got the message loud and clear.

Here is the cover to the U.N. Agenda 21 directive:

.

And here is the innocent looking logo of the Carolina Thread Trail organization:

How long has this been going on behind our backs?   Why has no on the town council investigated this?  Where is the HDR and the ONE?  Is our new town manager responsible?  These are questions that need to be answered.

And what are you going to do about it?

The Carolina Thread Trail is part and parcel of the Anti-American, anti-freedom, pro-socialist program of United Nations Agenda 21.  And the IDIOTS at town hall have adopted the agenda by signing onto it and applying for a grant to implement it!

This is not only reckless and irresponsible, THIS IS TREASON!

UN Agenda 21 – Coming to a

Neighborhood near You

By Scott Strzelczyk and Richard Rothschild

Most Americans are unaware that one of the greatest threats to their freedom may be a United Nations program known as Agenda 21. The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Division for Sustainable Development created Agenda 21 as a sustainability agenda which is arguably an amalgamation of socialism and extreme environmentalism brushed with anti-American, anti-capitalist overtones.

A detailed history on sustainable development, definitions, and critical actions can be found here. Section III of the Agenda 21 Plan addresses local community sustainable development.  The Preamble and Chapter 28 discuss how Agenda 21 should be implemented at a local level. The United Nations purposely recommends avoiding the term Agenda 21 and suggests a cleverly named alternative: “smart growth.” The United Nations Millennium Papers – Issue 2 (page 5) says this of Agenda 21 and smart growth:

[quote]

“Participating in a UN-advocated planning process would very likely bring out many of the conspiracy-fixated groups and individuals in our society such as the National Rifle Association, citizen militias and some members of Congress. This segment of our society who fear ‘one-world government’ and a UN invasion of the United States through which our individual freedom would be stripped away would actively work to defeat any elected official who joined ‘the conspiracy’ by undertaking LA21. So, we call our process something else, such as comprehensive planning, growth management, or smart growth.”

[un-quote]

Undoubtedly, residents of any town, county, or city in the United States that treasure their freedom, liberty, and property rights couldn’t care less whether it’s called Agenda 21 or smart growth. A recent example of this can be found in Carroll County, Maryland, where a smart growth plan called Pathways was drafted by the County Planning Department. The plan, if enacted, proposed a breathtaking reshuffling of land rights:

  • Rezoning of thousands of acres of beautiful, low-density agricultural farmland and protected residential conservation land into office parks
  • Down-zoning of agriculture land to prevent future subdivision by farmers
  • Up-zoning of low-density residential land around small towns into higher density zoning to permit construction of hundreds or possibly thousands of inclusive housing units, including apartments and condominiums
  • Inclusive housing with placement of multi-family construction on in-fill lots within existing residential single family communities
  • Endorsement of government-sponsored housing initiatives (subsidies) to ensure healthier, balanced neighborhoods

Carroll County, Maryland is one of 1,168 cities, towns, and counties worldwide that are members of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) – Local Governments for Sustainability, which is an international association of local governments as well as national and regional local government organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development. The ICLEI mission statement closely resembles that of Agenda 21. In fact, the ICLEI has Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council and coordinates local government representation in the UN processes related to Agenda 21.

Community leaders working together in Carroll County recently defended their county against overreaching smart growth initiatives. Richard Rothschild, a candidate for Commissioner, emphatically remarks, “Smart growth is not science; it is political dogma combined with an insidious dose of social engineering. Smart growth is a wedding wherein zoning code is married with government-sponsored housing initiatives to accomplish government’s goal of social re-engineering. It urbanizes rural towns with high-density development, and gerrymanders population centers through the use of housing initiatives that enable people with weak patterns of personal financial responsibility to acquire homes in higher-income areas. This has the effect of shifting the voting patterns of rural municipalities from Right to Left.”

Smart growth plans usurp property rights and constitutional rights. Local officials, at the behest of State Government, revise zoning laws to fit into a “smart code” zoning template. A massive reshuffling of property rights ensues. Farmers may lose subdivision rights; conservation land adjacent to population centers may be rezoned into commercial employment centers; and low-density land in small towns is re-designated as growth area and rezoned to accommodate diverse housing including high-density apartments and condominiums.

Finally, a healthy dose of federal- or state-sponsored housing initiatives is embraced to ensure communities are properly balanced. The net effect of these plans is to create highly urbanized population centers throughout otherwise-rural counties, while simultaneously limiting the availability of land for suburban and estate subdivisions, as these are considered an unsustainable waste of land by Agenda 21 disciples.

Clearly, smart growth plans will impact Americans’ future choices in where and how they live. Furthermore, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other federal and state agencies may attempt to deny grant funds to states and cities that do not adopt smart growth plans.

Most Americans will remain unaware of the implications of smart growth and Agenda 21 until after it is promulgated in their own backyards. Ironically, these plans are more insidious than the Eminent Domain ruling by the Supreme Court in the case of Kelo v City of New London. Under Eminent Domain rulings, property owners usually receive compensation for their losses.

Conversely, smart growth municipal plans, required by statute, enable municipalities to change zoning laws and engage in other regulatory actions that devalue property, restrict off-conveyances, and otherwise erode property values without payment of any compensation to the property owner.

Smart growth has another interesting unintended consequence: it can disrupt conventional alliances and lead to strange political bedfellows. Rural urbanization plans may raise the ire of environmental groups while simultaneously stirring the wrath of both conservative and liberal residents that want to maintain the rural fabric of their communities. Conversely, developers, sensing opportunity, may side with government smart growth bureaucrats in support of these plans.

Regardless of political orientation, two indisputable facts remain. Agenda 21 is a direct assault on private property rights and American sovereignty, and it is coming to a neighborhood near you.
